If you are into fishing then you will know that there is no better feeling than when you get a fish in the back of the landing net. We will be mainly concentrating on carp fishing and that’s because, well we love to catch carp. Carp fishing is so much fun because pound for pound you will not find a harder fighting fish in the UK.

Another thing when carp fishing is learning how to handle the fish, this is very important because carp can get easily damaged or even killed if you do not know how to handle them. If you have never fished for carp before then this is something you should think about because sooner or later you will catch a carp bigger than you have ever caught. At back of the landing net we think it is very important to know how to handle big fish properly. Before you put fish back in the water you want to know that they are ok so only use proper nets and slings and always make sure your landing net is big enough so the the fish are not cramped in the net.

Landing a big fish can be the easy part because once it's in your net it can't get away, but this is always when the fish need more care. Once the fish are in you landing net and on the bank they are literally "fish out of water" so you need to get them out of the landing net and back into the water as soon as possible. If you are going weigh the fish take them from the landing net, always use an unhooking mat, and gently place them in the weigh sling. Once you have wieghed and photographed them put them back gently and do not use a landing net to put them back as they can get tangled and stressed.
